I’ll guide you on a natural history tour of Coconut Grove, including visits to natural areas and secret gardens, all with a sprinkling of history and culture. • We’ll meet at the Barnacle Historic State Park to explore South Florida’s natural coastline, winding our way through a patch of native tropical forest for views across Biscayne Bay. We’ll look for birds, lizards, and other wildlife, and you’ll see the oldest house in the county still standing in its original location, the home of Ralph Middleton Munroe, one of Coconut Grove’s influential pioneers. • Next, we’ll stroll through an area of grand old buildings known in the early 1900s as Millionaire's Row. The Miami Marine Stadium, which was designed by Hilario Candela in 1963, was the first purpose-built venue for powerboat racing and featured concerts on a floating stage. It was closed in 1992 following Hurricane Andrew. Join a passionate advocate for the stadium for a guided visit to the site. • Meet at the Miami Rowing Club, where I’ll share my love for the stadium and show you a power point presentation which features archival photos, original blueprints, and videos of the stadium in its prime. • Next, visit multiple viewpoints where you can see the stadium up close. (Due to safety concerns, we are not able to enter the building itself.) • Hear about the ongoing efforts to restore the Stadium, and admire some of its most impressive architectural details. Upon entering Casa Habano, each guest will be greeted with a traditional Cuban coffee or "Cafe Cubano" to get a full sensory experience From there we begin a video on the seeding, germination, planting, curing, fermenting and sorting of tobacco leaves before shipped to factories. We continue by sharing the history of Commercial cigar rolling in Florida which began with small-scale operations by Cuban immigrants in the 1830s, and blossomed in to the "cigar Capital of the World", with Pioneers like Vicente martinez Ybor and Eduardo Manrara. Next we visit our pettit GALERA to experience each manufacturing stage: PRIMARY PROCESS - This is where you get to see firsthand the different types of tobacco and the aging process. Here you will see and learn how various tobaccos are sorted. DEVEINING - The removal of the center vein is a critical process of preparing the tobacco, and we will show you how it is done. TWISTING & ROLLING - Constructing a cigar is a 3 step process. See our Master Torcedores, twist, bind, press and roll our premium cigars. PACKING - Once cigars have been rolled they undergo further aging, before they're label and packaged for distribution. For safety, we recommend to wear closed shoes.
