Restored medieval tower with jail cells, a skeleton in a cage and local history exhibits.
Built in 1249 as part of the defence against the frequent raids by the french. It has also been a prison and now is a museum.
A small but lovely museum where you can learn about the once thriving smuggling trade in Rye. There are models of some of the vessels used to navigate the River Rother through the centuries and stories about the crime and punishment meted out to those who stepped the wrong side of the law.
